Jurre Koopmans (2002) started his first cello lessons with Wiesje van Eersel when he was six years old. When he was nine, he was accepted at the School for Young Talent of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He studied there for eight years with Lucia Swarts. In 2020, he began his bachelor's degree at the same conservatory with Larissa Groeneveld.

Jurre has successfully participated in several competitions. In June 2014, he was a finalist of the Royal Concertgebouw Competition. One year later, he received an honourable mention at the Prinses Christina Concours, at the same competition in 2017, he won the second prize during the regional final and the Donemus Prize for best interpretation of a modern work. In 2021, he won the first prize at the Britten Cello Competition.
Jurre received masterclasses from, among others, Dmitri Ferschtman, Jeroen den Herder, Timora Rosler, Harro Ruijsenaars, Michel Strauss, Anastasia Kobekina and Zlatomir Fung. He has also appeared as a soloist with the Britten Jeugd Strijkorkest and Symfonieorkest Bellitoni, and performed in large venues such as Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, De Doelen in Rotterdam, The Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Theater de Spiegel in Zwolle.

Together with Victor Su (piano), Jurre forms a duo with whom he regularly gives chamber music concerts. They met at the School for Young Talent and have been playing together intensively for years.

Thanks to the Nationaal Muziekinstrumentenfonds, Jurre has been able to play on an instrument built by Thomas Meuwissen - 2008 in Brussels. This foundation has also provided him with a bow, built by Emil Werner (ex. Frieda Belinfante).
