Nadia ten Kate

Violin

Nadia ten Kate (2000) started playing the harp at the age of five, when she was six, she also began her violin lessons with Nico Dezaire. In 2011, she was accepted into the Young Talent department of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, where she studied with Koosje van Haeringen, she is currently studying with Vera Beths. In 2022, she graduated from her Bachelor’s degree at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with a 9.5 and received the Jaring Walta prize for best performance of a modern composition. She is currently studying her Masters at the Amsterdam University of the Arts.

She took part in several masterclasses where she received lessons among others from Philippe Graffin, Christian Altenburger, Peter Brunt, Stephan Picard, Frank Peter Zimmerman, and Simone Lamsma. She participated in several competitions and won several prizes, including prizes at the Prinses Christina Concours and the Soloist Competition of Orkest Zuid, which allowed her to perform as a soloist with orchestra in the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.

In 2021, she was delighted to play in the family opera “Een Lied voor de Maan”, a co-production of De Nationale Opera and Opera Zuid. Nadia enjoys performing in various chamber music formations, since November 2021, she has been a member of the Viride Quartet. She also has participated in several projects with the Dutch National Youth Orchestra.

Nadia is a violin teacher at Music Education Aalst-Waalre. Besides studying at the conservatoire, she also studies psychology at the University of Amsterdam. Nadia plays on a violin built in 2015 by Wolfram Neureither.
