Nadia ten Kate

Violin

Nadia ten Kate (2000) started playing the violin with Nico Dezaire. In 2011, she was admitted to the Young Talent department of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where she studied with Koosje van Haeringen. In 2022, she completed her bachelor’s degree at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and received the Jaring Walta prize for the best performance of a modern composition. She is currently studying with Vera Beths and Tjeerd Top at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

 

She has participated in various masterclasses and has received lessons from, among others, David Takeno, Philippe Graffin, Frank Peter Zimmerman, Rosanne Philippens, and Simone Lamsma. She has taken part in several competitions and received awards, including the first prize in the regional final of the Princess Christina Concours and the Soloists Competition of Orkest Zuid, which allowed her to play solo with the orchestra in Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.

 

In 2022, she also had the opportunity to play solo with the conservatory orchestra of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Since November 2021, Nadia has been a member of the Viride Quartet. Nadia also enjoys playing in orchestras and has participated in various projects with the National Youth Orchestra. In 2023 she was one of the academy musicians of Amsterdam Sinfonietta and this season she takes part in the academy of the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra and the Dutch Chamber Orchestra. She is also active as a substitute in orchestras in the Netherlands. Since 2021, she has performed in the family opera Een Lied voor de Maan, a co-production of the Nationale Opera and Opera Zuid. Besides performing, Nadia also teaches violin at Muziekonderwijs Aalst-Waalre
